  • AusNS2 cookie / logged in timeout

Hi there Taz/Zimoi, a reoccurring problem for me no matter what device i'm on, After a couple of minutes of inactivity on the forums it'll log me out. This is especially annoying if i login, then start writing a post/message in a thread, hit submit, then it brings up the login page just after i had logged in prior.

At first i thought it might be my cookies not saving, then i realized it didn't even save cookies no matter what device, which i am not against but i was wondering if you could make the timeout a bit longer as it is fairly annoying when i am on a shitty phone and have to juggle around copy paste (;'( plea to help fight)

Curious to know if it is a feature or a bug, Taz .

edit:I know that the forums saves the post, actually this makes it better for safety and or security reasons, just wondering if the timeout can be increased a bit longer but keep it like it is.
(would have posted it directly to Taz, but i cannot use my computer at the moment, it's busy!)

Has anyone else had this issue? I can't say I've experienced it.

I've messed around with some settings, can you let me know if it fixes the issue?

If i'm using private browsing mode (safari) on my iPhone this happens to me. Can't say it has ever happened on my pc.

Yeah it would make sense for this to happen in private mode, as it doesn't save cookies.

Yeah I've never seen this happen either Archie - I stay logged in for weeks at a time despite only occasionally checking the site.

I definitely see cookies being saved for both ausns2.org and www.ausns2.org also. The Session timeout is 1800 seconds (30mins) but cookies should persist your login session beyond this as long as they remain. Can you use chrome and confirm what you're seeing in Settings > Advanced > Content Settings when searching for 'ausns'?

Private browsing mode you'll definitely not get a persistent login, that's the nature of the beast.

              Ok,

Months of change and i've realised it was just me and had some custom pfsense issues with cookie timeouts and some other weird jargon, in the end i got it working by changing the timeout to 0 for ausns2(see what i did there Taz)
